Prince Albert Fund Mission: Supporting Claudia L.’s Prosthetic Care
Launching a fundraising initiative to support Claudia L.’s prosthetic care and rehabilitation in Córdoba, Argentina.

Today, I am launching a fundraising initiative to support Claudia L.’s prosthetic care and rehabilitation.
As part of my mission with the Prince Albert Fund (KBF), I am currently developing Ugani across Latin America, with a particular focus on the Mercosur region.
Ugani’s mission is simple: making high-quality prosthetic and orthotic devices more accessible through 3D technology.
Over the past months, I have travelled across Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil, meeting collaborators, clinics, healthcare professionals, and potential partners. But most importantly, I met patients.
These experiences highlighted something very simple: access to high-quality medical care and mobility solutions is still far from guaranteed for many people around the world. What many of us consider normal remains inaccessible to others.
During my time in Córdoba, Argentina, I met Claudia L.
CLAUDIA’S STORY
Claudia is a 54-year-old preschool teacher who has been living with the long-term consequences of a complex medical history and a lower-limb amputation.
Her medical journey began at the age of 17, when she was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, causing severe pain across all joints. A few years later, her condition evolved into systemic lupus erythematosus, an autoimmune disease that eventually affected her kidneys and led to kidney failure.
Over the years, Claudia underwent two kidney transplants, a bilateral hip replacement, and later a left leg amputation linked to vascular complications and a road accident.
Today, she uses a prosthesis and crutches in her daily life. Despite these challenges, she remains active, independent, and continues to move forward with resilience.
WHY THIS CAMPAIGN
The objective of this initiative is to support Claudia’s prosthetic care and rehabilitation while also raising awareness about access to medical care and the real-life impact prosthetic solutions can have on patients.
This project is being carried out in collaboration with Ortopedia Il Nonno in Córdoba, Argentina. Ugani will contribute to the fabrication of the prosthetic socket, while the local partner will complete the remaining components of the prosthesis.
FUNDRAISING GOALS
€750 → Improvement and adjustment of Claudia’s prosthetic care.
€2,000 → Additional rehabilitation support.
Beyond that → Every additional €500 raised will help fund a prosthesis for another patient in need through our local partner network.
A PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE
This initiative is also a personal way for me to contribute directly on the ground during this mission.
Travelling across South America and meeting patients face-to-face gave a completely different perspective on healthcare. Technology only matters if it can reach the people who actually need it.
